Hopefully the Sens can bounce back.
Stone's addition should help them do that. |

I'm really hoping Condon gets the start because quite frankly, Anderson has been less than a #1 quality lately. It is too bad Boucher plays him automatically when he's healthy. Sure, Anderson was great during the 'Nicole' crisis (no disrespect intended) and played through the adversity. He was a warrior, but that has worn off a little and it shows in his play. Because of the circumstances he overcame, he only has to 'show up' at the rink and he starts. He doesn't have to earn his spot in the lineup and I think that's just wrong. Condon has literally stood on his head for this team and even after amazing games like the one against Pittsburgh (and past shutout wins), he sits and watches Anderson play the next game (3 losses to Montreal). Enough already! Sentiment doesn't win hockey games - great goal-tending does and the time to reward players for their hard-earned effort has come. Boucher needs to sit Anderson for a few games to fuel some hunger in him and help both of them realize he should not be an automatic insert into the lineup anymore - he must earn it. |

I don't agree, Andy is our #1 and we need him in the playoffs. He's been nothing short of spectacular in the playoffs and the fact that he's maybe not playing is best right now is an even bigger reason to play him again so that he can find his groove in time for the playoffs!
Condon has been really good in his absence but I don't want to start playoffs again with a rookie goalie (meaning no playoffs experience)...we all know how that turned out last time! |

Ridiculous post.....those 3 games against montreal (only 2 of which Anderson wasn't AMAZING) are pretty much the only 2 bad games he's had all year. the guys is CLEARLY the #1 goalie here. he was exceptional before his wife got sick and has been exceptional since he got back. he's probably a top 10 goalie in the league and you want to bench him in favour on condon because he had a couple of not great games, forget the fact that the offense has disappeared and the D in front of him hasn't been great..............
he was the ONLY reason we won that game in Boston BTW |

Agreed.... lots of goalies have their moments, but the bounce back. Lets not get into a platoon situation AGAIN.... 'win and you're in' never works

Ridiculous reply to my post.… Condon is the only reason we find ourselves in a current playoff position. Also, I wasn't suggesting that Andy get benched, I was suggesting he sit out a couple of games to give Condon (Who has earned it) a few games while Andy recharges. There were more than a few games were Anderson didn't look good. Take off your blinders! I could list a few games where Condon was the only reason we were in the game at all (Pittsburgh ring a bell?)! You clearly believe Anderson deserves to start every game, simply because he is considered our #1… regardless of how he has played. That's just insane. IMO, if for no other reason, Condon needs to play a couple of games so that he is ready to go if anything happens to Anderson down the road. |

you're insinuating that condon is a better player and has earned it more than anderson (which is dumb) but let's look at some facts....
- anderson has played 4 less games but has 3 more wins and a significantly better GAA and sv%
- you talk about earning it lately....condon has lost 3 of his last 5 ( same as anderson) but those are also the only 3 games andy has lost in a month while condon has been a .500 goalie in teh same time frame.
so, andy has been better overall and he's been better lately....but somehow condon has earned it more than him?
like i said, your original post is ridiculous....and your reply is just as bad.
i never once said andy should play every game, but he's the #1 and as such should play most (atleast 70-80% especially down the stretch). you've basically insinuated that the team should platoon goalies and that condon has earned his ice time more than andy......which i've clearly shown you isn't the fact. |

*11 goals in their last 7 games.
Still pretty bad, the offence sure looked weak without Stone in there and with Hoffman on the 3rd line. |

I'm glad you took the time to look up some facts and in order to back up your statement. At least someone who posts on this blog has some passion for their team!
So, are you saying that Condon's contribution has not been the main reason why the Senators are in a playoff position? When you are spouting facts, remember that Condon came to the team without knowing anything about our system (Boucher's new approach) and kept us extremely competitive even during a scoring drought. He had no idea when he was going to play, or for how long, yet he played 28 straight games. That alone deserves some recognition and playing time down the stretch. We are going to likely need both goaltenders in the playoff run.
Anderson has not been sharp (with the exception of the Boston game) and I think it's safe to say that Condon should've played at least one of those Montréal games… And who knows what that outcome would've been. What's wrong with playing Condon tonight against the Flyers? They certainly are a powerhouse and at least gives Anderson a bit of rest.
I guess we can agree to disagree, but I love your passion! |

I fully agree that Condon has been good, and good at a time when the team needed him. I also think that Anderson has been better. He's been our best goalie this year, and arguably of all time. What I'm saying is that he doesn't have to earn anything at this point......he's the #1 until he shows he can't do it anymore (for more than just a couple of games) or someone comes along and proves to be consistently better. Until that happens he's the guy and at this point I'd likely only play condon on the 2nd half of back to backs

THat stupid mistake by Andy cost the game! He's our #1, i have confidence in him in the playoffs BUT he's got to have better judgement when leaving his net, this is NOT the first time this happens to him...

I recall someone predicting that the guys would go 8-3-3 over the 14 game stretch..... well done Sir
I said it then, that would be happy with that record and despite the Montreal games being disappointing, i'm still happy with the 8-3-3 record.
